The center aims to be a premier hub for cryptography and cybersecurity research in India. The main areas of focus are in the following fields a) theoretical and applied cryptography, b) symmetric key cryptography and cryptanalysis, c) network security, d) privacy-preserving mechanisms, e) post-quantum cryptography, and f) quantum cryptography. The center conducts research in cutting-edge technologies as well as engages in the training of students and professionals in these areas. The center offers long-term and short-term research positions at the postdoc, PhD, masters (M.Tech RA), predoc, intern levels. The center also offers various training programs, workshops, and boot camps for experienced professionals, undergraduate and graduate students.
